We stayed here from a Sunday, March 3rd - Mar 6th. It was a fantastic stay. The hosts were very accommodating and friendly. Ouray is mostly closed this time of year but it was nice to have a slower pace. Ouray Inn is located two short blocks off of Main Street right dab in the middle of town. It was such an easy walk to anything in town. They are pet friendly however they are pretty strict on the pet not being in the bed at all. The room had a small kitchenette in it… we didn’t book one with it so we aren’t sure if all rooms have it (room 111) or they upgraded us. We will stay here again.

Just had the best weekend experience for a girls trip. Love the small and cozy room. Water heat was amazing. Breakfast and Coffee was a perfect start to our day. Wine and cookies in the evening was such a treat. Also, so thankful they were very kind and helpful at 10:30pm when I accidentally locked us out of our room. 3/1/2024-3/3/2024

How lucky my husband Guillermo and I were to spend the night in this charming place. We didn't have a reservation but they welcomed us with a smile and all the facilities in the world. The room was very comfortable, warm and clean. The incredible location. You can tell from afar that they like what they do. Everything was perfect. We would return without hesitation.

The room and the front desk were excellent. They even let me check in early. Everything was clean and stocked. The location of the coffee pot is little odd but nothing that stopped me from making coffee.

What a beautiful place to stay at in Ouray! It was our first time in town, and we loved it! Carmen texted me the day before to check our plans and everything went smoothly. The inn is dog friendly, they have cookies and wine every day at 4.30pm, and breakfast every morning; it's also a very short block away from the main street, so you can walk to all kinds of stores and eateries, no need for driving. Planning on going back to Ouray in the summer, will stay here again!

The cutest, cozy room & hotel we could have asked for! Brett & Carmen were SO kind and welcoming. My husband and I were on a fly by the seat of your pants road trip, and decided to head to Ouray. Brett got us a room quickly and reserved it over the phone. Carmen then called a few hours later to check in on our driving to make sure we could access our room no problem if the office had closed. Originally, we were only going to stay one night. We checked out in the morning to continue on our adventure and had some car difficulties, resulting in us needing another night. I called back and Carmen was quick to interrupt her own time off to make sure they had a room for us! She was so kind over the phone, checking to make sure we were okay and could make it safely back to the hotel. I chatted with her for a little when we returned, and I cannot express to you how absolutely genuine this couple is. They truly are so kind and caring to each person. If you get a second, listen to their story! They are an inspiring couple taking in what the world has to offer.I will absolutely, be back to Ouray Inn anytime I'm in Ouray. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

Was in & out of town for a month for a work project. Brett & Carmen had been great innkeepers and made the stay more relaxing. They have excellent insight of where to eat or not. The Continental breakfast was very tasty and long enough to go back for seconds(thirds really when possible) Happy hour in the evenings is a treat.

We stayed for Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time. They offer free wine and cookies daily! We even had our room upgraded without asking because it happened to be a slower time. Would definitely recommend and we will be back.

Thank you Brett for making our Honey moon great, for making us feel special and providing us with Champagne, and other yummies! And thanks for matching the price on your website. This place was very loud at night, and housekeeping wasn’t great, but overall we had an amazing view from our room, and they were very accommodating. Thanks again!

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Ouray Inn recently, and I must say it was a fantastic experience. The inn's location was a highlight for us, as it was conveniently situated close to hiking trails, making it a perfect choice for outdoor enthusiasts. The accommodating hosts were also a standout feature. From the moment we arrived, Brett and Carmen made us feel welcomed and at home. They were always ready to provide helpful recommendations and tips for exploring the beautiful Ouray area. Their warm hospitality added a personal touch to our stay, and I felt like a valued guest throughout my time there.Another highlight of our stay was the breakfast. The inn served a delicious morning meal that exceeded our expectations. It was a great way to start the day before heading out for a day of hiking or exploring the town.Overall, my experience at the Ouray Inn was wonderful. The combination of its convenient location to hiking trails, accommodating hosts, and a fantastic breakfast made my stay truly memorable. I would highly recommend this inn to anyone visiting the Ouray area, and I can't wait to return for another visit in the future.

Just got back from a long weekend in Ouray and stayed at the Ouray Inn. The rooms were comfortable and extremely clean. The owner was friendly and helpful, the breakfast and happy hours were great. Breakfast rotated each morning so variety plus standbys like fruit, waffles, etc.The Inn is close to Main Street yet quiet and secluded. It was a lovely trip and we will definitely stay here again!

Our week and a half stay at the Ouray Inn for our wedding and honeymoon was fantastic! Brett and Carmen were more than accommodating to allow us to ship our wedding dress and suit ahead of time and even left us a a congrats and wedding gift of some champagne in our room! The experience was great, loved the morning breakfasts that were offered (variety each day) and the wine and cookies in the evening was great to look forward to as well. There is a porch that they allow guests to relax on and enjoy a few drinks. There are great views and Ouray is nice and quiet. Very short walk to the main store in town. The room was clean and enjoyable to stay in. Can't wait to come back!

Great! Already reserved for next year.
Ouray is magical, and staying at the Ouray Inn makes it even better! The location is great- it's easy to leave your car and walk to main street, or take a hike. The rooms are clean and the beds soft. Breakfast every morning was wonderful (especially the biscuit and egg casserole- I had to ask for the recipe!). And I truly enjoyed meeting and chatting with Brett and Carmen. I felt right at home. Thank you so much-we will be back!

Everything was perfect! Clean, fridge with freezer, microwave, coffee maker, comfy bed and chair. Room was recently remodeled and very attractive. The breakfasts were different every morning, creative and delicious. We also enjoyed the wine and cookies each day at 4:30. Short, easy walk to restaurants and market.

My husband and I stayed at the Ouray Inn for 3 nights in June. We were very happy with our stay there! Cameron and Brett are fantastic innkeepers- always there with a smile and a handy tip for us. We even ran into them hiking the Perimeter Trail one day (which is super easy to do right out the door of the hotel- no need to drive anywhere!). The rooms are not big but the bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and all that we needed was there. The location is perfect- so close to all the restaurants and Main Street. You can just walk to everything. The 2nd floor patio is adorable with an absolutely incredible view. The breakfast in the morning isn't huge, but there are plenty of options. I had waffles most days and they even had biscuit, egg, and sausage sandwiches one morning. The picnic tables in the lobby work out perfectly for eating breakfast and getting to know others staying at the Inn. I researched forever trying to figure out where to stay on our trip and I'm so glad we stayed at the Ouray Inn- we will be back!

We stayed for 3 nights in beautiful Ouray and we’re so glad we chose the Ouray Inn! It was within walking distance to everything, yet very quiet. Our room was clean and comfortable. The hot breakfast each morning and happy hour in the late afternoon were wonderful. Our hosts could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. Highly recommend!!

Adorable little log motel built in the 50s just off main. We loved this place. Short walk to all the bars and restaurants. Beautiful view of the falls right outside our door. Super clean bathroom with good water pressure. We stayed here on a motorcycle ride through southern colorado and will def stay here again.

Ouray Inn since 1955

Who We Are

Hello!  We are Christian and Kaytie Evans, the owners of the Ouray Inn!

We're from Littleton, CO and Ogden, UT respectively.  We met while in college in Hawaii and until recently we managed a boutique resort on Vieques, a small island in the Caribbean. While we loved the island life, the mountains have always felt like home. So when the opportunity to purchase this family owned and operated Inn came up, we jumped.  Our evening walks on the beach with our 3 kids turned into hikes on one of the many nearby trails and we love it!

When not at the Inn, Kaytie can be found riding horses, playing the piano or doing a puzzle and Christian is usually buzzing around in small airplanes and helicopters. We love Ouray for the small town feel, dirt roads, cute shops and delicious restaurants.  And with the hot springs, countless trails (for hiking, biking and 4WD) and the ice climbing park in the winter, there is always something to do!

We take pride in our little Inn and look forward to providing a comfortable and clean place for guests to relax and rest.

On Site Hosts

Brett and Carmen Smith- InnKeepers

Brett and I are thrilled to be your on-site hosts. We are globe trotters who are taking a break from international traveling to enjoy you, our guests, and experience life in this magical area of the San Juan Mountains. We are the primary faces you will see behind the desk, and we will be here to greet you at check-in. We are happy to get coffee on and breakfast ready and are quick to respond to any on-site needs you may encounter. We love chatting with guests about the local must-dos and are happy to have endless conversations about local hiking trails.

We are both native to South Dakota. We met at Black Hills State University where we graduated and married shortly after. We have been enjoying our voluntarily childless lifestyle for the past 27 years.

We have been entrepreneurs running our own business, including an organic coffee roasting company and an ice cream joint. About ten years ago we jumped into a very nontraditional lifestyle. We sold nearly every single thing we owned and purchased a home on Roatan Island in the Western Caribbean. Off we went with just 4 suitcases and our pup, Charlie.
The innkeepers

We lived on Roatan Island on and off for seven years. If we weren’t enjoying the craziness of island life we were traveling internationally.

Our first love is experiencing other cultures while traveling, but we also enjoy the outdoors, walking, yoga, the Cincinnati Bengals, golfing, and anything water-related. You will always find a snorkel in our backpacks; however, we have temporarily put that away for hiking boots and camping gear.

As your on-site hosts, we are looking forward to experiencing Ouray and all the perks that come with living in this area. We will be as accommodating as we possibly can to make your experience comfy, chill, and genuine.
